City of Gold Coast has approved the venue’s development application which means Mo’s can lawfully operate as a music venue and artistic space.

Gold Coast’s arts scene has undergone immense growth over the past few years and with that growth comes an influx of creative entrepreneurs ready to cater to a growing appetite for live arts experiences. If you’re on the hunt for a cultural experience a little out of the ordinary, try one of these on for size.

MO’S Desert Clubhouse is a community hub for everything from live music, yoga, functions and exhibitions to macrame classes and office space.

But that diversity has created a commercial headache, with the clubhouse’s owners saying the Gold Coast City Council wants to charge it about $60,000 for zoning that does not exist.

The worlds of music, art and events have collided in spectacular fashion, with the creation of a rad new space in the Burleigh Heads called Mo’s Desert Clubhouse. A bare industrial warehouse has morphed into the coast’s newest creative space, bringing everything from live music gigs to art exhibitions and events to the southern end.

Emilia Lorena gave up an executive advertising career in Sydney at just 22 years old to become a full time, self-professed nanna. After a recent move to Burleigh, we sat with Emilia in her new warehouse, Mo’s Desert Clubhouse to talk about her burgeoning career as a macramé artist.

With their creative powers combined owners of Mo’s Desert Clubhouse, Emilia, Christian and Kim, have recently introduced the eclectic new creative space to Burleigh.

Combining events, gigs, workshops, yoga classes and collaborative office spaces, Mo’s is set to be THE meeting place for the Gold Coast’s coolest movers and shakers.

Decked out with cacti filled drum kits, an extravagant psychedelic mural, homely couches and makeshift pallet tables, Mo’s Desert Clubhouse is the gritty creative and music space the Gold Coast didn’t know it was missing.
