Valtozash ~ Live at Mo's

Prepare yourself for the the intense brass sounds of Valtozash, The Francis Wolves and Greshka! These three hard-hitting Brisbane bands will indulge your audio-holes with all the sounds of the genre-spectrum; often at the same time. You will be so blown away you will circle the globe and find yourself back where you came from but with a nicer hat. 

Behold the massive sound that is Valtozash, Australia’s first jazz-metal big band. It’s a fifteen-piece thrash against your jazz-bone; it’s a jab in the eye with a wailing saxophone; a punch in the jaws with a 24” trash cymbal. Your genre-bone will snap; your teeth will hurt; your ears will bleed with delight; your heart will fraternise with a bass drum; you’ll crave trumpet for breakfast, brunch, elevensies and a devastating 2pm snack. You’ll try your hardest to like Valtozash, realise you hate it passionately but keep listening because you hate everything else slightly more. 

Hailing from Brisbane, Australia, The Francis Wolves deliver a sound that Triple J’s Dom Alessio refers to as ‘the soundtrack to big wave surfing…in hell’. An instrumental funk juggernaut that brings together a melting pot of genres. It’s a fuzzed out wall-of-sound with ferocious horns and a brooding rhythm section. There’s ominous organ and infectious congas. It’s a hot mess. A funky hot mess. 

Loosen your suspenders, tighten your shoelaces and get ready to flap your extremities! Greshka is a seven piece neo-gypsy/klezmer ensemble not unlike a chipotle and cocaine kebab: you’re not sure where it’s from, but it sure knocks you off your tits. A torn canvas of Romanian gypsy dons a filthy smear of electronica, metal, jazz-funk and classical-arrangement.
