TUNED DOWN FOR THE CAUSE
Time & Location
About The Event
A night of heavy music to help our homeless comrades.
As you know, homelessness is not just the result of too few houses, it's causes are many and varied. Homelessness is not a choice, but one of the most potent examples of disadvantage in the community and one of the most important markers of social exclusion.
In 2016, an estimated 46.1 persons per 10,000 in QLD were considered to be homeless with the issue predominant in urban centres in the South East QLD corner. In the Southport CBD, one only has to walk the streets or through local parks to see the extent of the issue, with homeless of many ages and ethnicities occupying the benches and street corners.
For this reason, Tuned Down for the Cause has been conceived to help alleviate and raise awareness of the extent of this issue. In the case of this particular event, we will be partnering with the Gold Coast Project for Homeless Youth, an emergency accommodation centre which provides relief housing to homeless youth, whilst assisting them to gain tenancy or find a permanent place to call home. To support the work done by this organisation, Tuned Down for the Cause will be donating to them all proceeds from ticket sales, as well as providing the opportunity for further individual donations to be made on the night.
Tuned Down for the Cause aims to unite people around the Gold Coast area in their love for heavy music and their desire to help their less fortunate neighbours. The Sunday March 07 event will feature an extensive line-up of established and up-and-coming local bands in the genres of punk, hardcore and heavy metal, running throughout the afternoon and night. Bands include:
