BEAT THE TUMOUR: Heavy Benefit

With the music industry at large finally seeing a glimmer of light at the end of what has been a predominantly dark tunnel for over 18 months now HEAVY and some of South East Queensland’s leading entertainment venues are regrettably asking you to dig deep once more – albeit for a good cause.

Local Brisbane guitarist Jayce Johansen, who plays in Brisvegas metal outfit Diskust, has recently been diagnosed with a substantial brain tumor that requires surgery before becoming critical.

It is a condition Jayce has lived with in silence while the music industry around him was swallowed by a silent abyss but with restrictions easing and live music starting to live again the time is now to address this issue and unite to aid one of our own.

As such, a series of benefit concerts will be held early next year, but we felt there was space for one gig to be held this year.

Beat The Tumor will be held at Mo’s Desert Clubhouse on Sunday, December 5, featuring an exciting line-up of bands selected by Jayce to launch this campaign.

Diskust will be joined by Massic, Sentiment, Empire Within, Adriatic and special guests for an afternoon session to kick start the GoFundMe campaign which is hoped will contribute a large chunk of medical and recovery costs for surgery that could well save a life.  100% of proceeds going direct to Jayce.
